DWYC Racing
I’m the Race Chair at Dana West Yacht Club. Our main races are a nonspin Midwinters race in February, our Charity Regatta in early June, and some fun weeknight races in the summer months. Check out the club race page here. You can read my “Ask a Sailor” column from the club’s weekly newsletter here.

Dana West Youth Sailing
I manage the group’s website and registration for the summer camps and race programs. This is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create a safe, exciting space for young sailors to grow on and off the water. Our program supports hands-on learning and competition for all levels – we foster skill development, confidence and character building. We hold several fundraising events throughout the year. Please visit the website here.

Performance Handicap Racing Fleet of Southern California
Sailboats of all different sizes and shapes are rated so that they can compete against one another on an even playing field. This is sometimes called PHRF racing, and there are several such groups around the US. The ratings board takes into account the dimensions of the boat, sails, and rigging, and determines an offset in seconds per mile that a boat “owes” other boats. This the boat’s rating. There can be multiple ratings for a boat for different sail configurations and different types of races. I manage the website and database for the SoCal PHRF.
